Windsor Park, Jacksonville, FL 32224
After about 10 years without a repaint, this Jacksonville home’s dark finish had faded, the Hardie board siding was chalking and peeling in places, and some of the caulk had cracked. The homeowner wanted a lighter look, which meant painting the front brick for the first time. We repainted the siding and trim and gave the previously unpainted soffits and fascia their first finish. Project Highlights Existing siding: Prepared and repainted weathered Hardie board Front brick: Applied a Sherwin-Williams Loxon XP base coat before painting Soffits and fascia: Applied a bonding primer before the first painted finish Finish: Sherwin-Williams Emerald Rain Refresh on the body, trim, soffits, and fascia

The fading was easy to see from the street. Up close, the old paint left a chalky residue, some areas were peeling, and several caulk joints had cracked. The job called for two kinds of prep. We had to remove loose paint and repair failed joints on the previously painted surfaces, then prepare the bare brick, soffits, and fascia for their first coats.
The biggest change is at the front of the house. Painting the brick and Hardie board siding in Alabaster brought the two materials together, while Tricorn Black defined the trim and roofline. The lighter body gave the home a noticeably different look, and the black details kept the contrast sharp. If your home has a mix of painted siding, bare brick, and unpainted trim, ask your painter to spell out the prep and coatings for each surface in the estimate. This project used the same finish across much of the exterior, with different base coats where the surfaces called for them. Planning an exterior repaint near Beach and Hodges or Intracoastal West?
