What we found

  • The darker original finish showed significant weathering from Northeast Florida sun, heat, humidity, and rain. The siding had heavy chalking and oxidation, along with the normal surface wear and caulking issues that needed to be addressed before repainting.
  • Because James Hardie siding performs best when the surface is properly prepared, the project began with standard exterior cleaning, preparation, caulking, and attention to problem areas before the new coatings were applied.

Prep & repairs

  • Our team pressure washed and cleaned the exterior, then prepared the James Hardie® siding, trim, doors, garage door, and other painted surfaces with caulking, minor surface preparation, and attention to weathered areas before painting.
  • The home was then repainted with Sherwin-Williams Latitude® in a satin finish, selected for the exterior surfaces and Northeast Florida conditions.

The result

The home is located in Bartram Park Preserve, and the exterior color update was completed with the community’s HOA/ARB requirements in mind. After approximately 4 days, the home had a completely different appearance. The faded, oxidized dark blue siding was replaced with a brighter, cleaner, more contemporary finish, while the lighter trim and contrasting front door added definition and curb appeal. The transformation refreshed the James Hardie siding without changing the architecture of the home, proving how much a well-planned color change can alter the overall character of an exterior.
