1. Re-finish Natural Wood Surfaces. If you have natural, fine wood in your house, it may need some love to be all that it can be. Older houses usually have plenty of it. Refinishing has the benefit of being a workable job for the DIYer, but it can also be time-consuming and messy. If you can't spare three days to re-finish your own floors, professionals can have the job complete in half the time. If you haven't witnessed a refinished floor in your own home, the transformation can be stunning. In 48 hours or less, your old, beat up hardwood looks like a million bucks, showcasing the elegance of natural woodgrain. Many doors, molding, and other wooden fixtures are also great, simple candidates for refinishing or repainting.
2. Focus on the Kitchen or Bathroom. Kitchens and bathrooms are some of the most rewarding updates you can bring to an older house. An update in these rooms also adds more equity than nearly any other work you could perform. If you're in the kitchen, think about how changing the color of your cabinets, or adding a new backsplash, might bring your kitchen into the 21st century. Likewise, your bathroom may be utterly transformed, simply by changing the color of the wall paint, or updating the tiling. These are rooms where you spend a lot of time. Why not make them their very best?
3. Invest in the Exterior. We do a lot of exterior paint jobs, but this is not always our first recommendation for homeowners in need of exterior improvements. Sometimes, we just stick to the details. If you need repairs or updates to your trim, siding, gutters, or shutters, we're here for you. We can also paint these border structures to contrast better with your existing paint colors. Sometimes, simply painting the shutters makes the entire exterior look brand new.
