Our Process
Our Painting Process in Jacksonville: What to Expect From Start to Finish
From the first call to the follow-up, every step of working with A New Leaf Painting is designed to be clear, stress-free, and centered entirely around you. Here is exactly what to expect.
Quick Answer
What is A New Leaf Painting’s process?
Our painting process starts with a clear estimate, detailed scope review, color and product planning, scheduling, surface preparation, professional painting, daily communication, cleanup, final walkthrough, and warranty support. For HOA exterior painting projects, we also help homeowners organize paint color details, product specifications, sheen, LRV information, photos, and contractor documentation commonly requested for ARB approval.
Contact Us
Reach out by phone, text, or through our online estimate form — whichever is easiest for you. We return every request the same day. No voicemail black holes, no waiting a week to hear back.
On-Site Estimate
We come to your home, walk every surface with you, identify any repairs needed, and provide a detailed written estimate — locked in with no surprise charges. Our estimates are itemized so you know exactly what you’re getting and exactly what it costs. No vague line items, no wiggle room.
Color Consultation
Not sure about colors? We bring large-format samples directly to your home so you can see how each option looks in your actual lighting — morning sun, afternoon shade, evening light. No guessing from a tiny chip at the hardware store. Our color consultation is included with every project.
Getting on the Calendar
Once you approve the estimate and colors are confirmed, we schedule your project start date and send you a written confirmation. You’ll know exactly when we’re arriving, how long the project will take, and who your crew leader is. No ambiguity, no “we’ll call you the day before.”
What We Need From You Before We Start
Once you’re booked, there are a few things we ask of you before the project begins. Being prepared means your project starts on time, runs smoothly, and finishes exactly the way you imagined.
Interior Projects
Before we arrive, please remove valuables, wall art, curtains, and small furniture from the areas being painted. Empty bookshelves and countertops in the work zone and unplug electronics. Final color selections should be submitted 3–5 days before your start date.
Exterior Projects
Move patio furniture, grills, potted plants, and decorations away from the house. Trim back any landscaping touching the siding. Make sure we have clear gate access if your property is in a gated community. Final color selections should be confirmed before your scheduled start date.
Pre-Job Walkthrough
Before we start a single brushstroke, your crew leader walks the project with you one more time. We confirm colors, scope, any special requests, and protection measures for your furniture, floors, and landscaping. Everyone is aligned before work begins.
Prep Work & Repairs
This is where most painting companies cut corners — and where we don’t. Every surface is cleaned, sanded, patched, caulked, and primed before paint touches the wall. Any drywall repairs, wood rot replacement, or stucco patching is handled by our own trained crew — not subcontracted out. The quality lives in the preparation.
Painting
Premium Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore coatings are applied by our own background-checked, uniformed crew — at least two coats, always. Your home is treated with the same care we’d give our own. Furniture is protected, floors are covered, and the jobsite is left clean at the end of every single day.
Final Walkthrough & Touch-Ups
We walk every room and every surface with you before we consider the job complete. Anything that doesn’t meet your standard gets addressed on the spot — no “submit a warranty claim” runaround. We don’t leave until you’re satisfied. Every project is backed by our Iron-Clad Guarantee: professional results you’ll love, or your paint is 100% free.
Follow-Up Call
A few days after we finish, we follow up to make sure everything still looks exactly the way you expected. If anything comes up, we handle it — no excuses, no delays. This is the relationship we build with every client, and it’s why Jacksonville homeowners keep calling us back.
For HOA Homeowners
For HOA Exterior Painting Projects: Approval Comes Before Paint
Many Jacksonville homeowners live in HOA communities where exterior painting requires written ARB, ARC, or ACC approval before work begins. If your home is in an HOA, gated community, CDD neighborhood, historic district, or master-planned community, we help you identify the paint-related details your association may request before your project is scheduled.
We can help organize the paint-related information your HOA may request, including color names, manufacturer codes, product lines, sheen, LRV when available, surface details, prep scope, contractor documentation, and project timeline.
Our HOA Painting Support Process
Important
A New Leaf Painting cannot guarantee HOA approval, override HOA rules, or provide legal advice. Final approval is always up to the homeowner’s HOA, ARB, ARC, ACC, or management company.
