Painting the interior trim around your home for the Holidays
During the holidays, sometimes it's the little things that matter the most. But with all the big things on your to-do list, you don't have time to impress your holiday guests by starting a huge wall painting job or an ambitious interior decorating project. Well, we've got some joyful news for you… with these painting tips, your trim and crown molding can look as white as snow (or as red as Santa's hat, or brown as roasted chestnuts… you get the idea)! And the cleaner lines will make your wall paint look sharper, too.
The Best Kind of Painting is Not Painting At All
We'll start with a painting tip that doesn't involve painting. It's amazing how many of those spots and marks on your trim will come off with some old-fashioned soap and water. So try our wall-cleaning suggestions before you paint. No matter how simple the paint job, cleaning is always easier, and if those seemingly permanent marks on your trim come off with a little soap and water, you'll feel like you got an early gift!
Meet Another New Friend in the Painting Business
Here at A New Leaf Painting, we want to be your friend in the interior painting business in Jacksonville, FL. Even better, we want to re-introduce you to an old mutual friend: masking tape! You already know that masking tape is great for protecting edges while you're painting. But here are a couple tape tips that might be new. After you paint, wait 24 hours before removing the tape. We all get impatient to see our painting handiwork, but during the holidays, you have plenty of other things to keep you busy, so let the paint get completely dry. Then, use a sharp knife to cut the tape at the top of the trim while you pull it off from above. This helps ensure that the edges of your paint job won't get removed with the tape. Our expert house painters are dedicated to providing our clients with prompt, professional, quality work in every aspect of your home painting project! We Use Premium Paint Products and Hire the Best Painters in Jacksonville, FL to offer you a "Peace Of Mind Painting Service".
Go the Extra Mile (Or Foot)
This tip is one of the things that makes professional paint jobs look so sharp. Trim paint has a different consistency than wall paint, and it'll look better if you can knock out an entire section at once. Unlike a wall, which you can often finish at your convenience, trim is glossy enough to appear inconsistent if you don't finish an individual coat all at one time.
You Can Take Your Time and Still Save Time
The professionals (that's us) often use oil-based paint when we do trim work. We recommend it because it takes a little longer to dry. That's a good thing, because (as we mentioned earlier) you want to do each trim section in one sitting in order to avoid inconsistencies. If you're using latex paint and you're not quite as fast as a house painting pro, you may find that parts of the section are already drying before you finish the whole section. With oil-based paint, you're much less likely to run into that issue.
Remember, It's the Little Things!
It's the holidays, and you're busy, so don't take on too much. If you've got major cracks or other surface irregularities in your trim, you might consider starting your trim painting after the holidays are over, because there are a few other steps necessary to make sure you get the job done right. You can also give our licensed house painters in Jacksonville a call, and we'll be glad to take care of the project for you. Whether you're working on a larger interior decorating project or you're just doing some house painting, we're here for you.
